Hello and welcome to my website. As the crisis of 2008/2009 seems to have leveled off and there is a modicum of a recovery in 2011, many companies and industries remain under stress. But the stress is distributed unevenly. Intuitively or deliberately, some organizations are doing a better job of coping with adapting to a new economy than others. As a business adviser I observe this phenomenon first hand.
No ordinary crisis
This crisis is not an ordinary one but really a prelude to fundamental changes to come. These changes are social, cultural and economic in nature, and as business leaders, it behooves all of us to understand these changes and how they affect the entire business environment in which we operate.
The new Globalization
For all intents and purposes, this new wave of changes can be called the new defining characteristic of globalization.
Specifically, we are moving – at breakneck speed – away from a society that can best be defined as consumer-centric, driven by profligate consumer spending.
Post-Consumer Society
As a business adviser I assist my clients in their desire and need to think this through and to define the implications for their business models. Just to give you an idea what this means, I articulate with my clients the notion that there is a paradigm shift in the making, away from planning for growth, to a completely new way of thinking about business management where not growth but unpredictability takes center stage.
Implications
Preparing their organizations for unpredictable events (not to be confused with unexpected events), is a means by which leaders in general, and business leaders in particular, can strengthen the business models that have been entrusted to their care.

New Strategies and Solutions
Through consulting assignments, speaking engagements, publishing reports and articles, and through coaching of management teams and groups of management teams, I help my clients get ready for a new era, a new phase in the history of capitalism, a completely new way of doing business, a new way of maintaining relevant and credible business models that deserve the loyalty of their customer base.

Smart Business Models
Globalization remains with us but in a form and shape that is distinctly more pronounced and nuanced than the blunt instruments of free capital flows and free trade flows that defined capitalism for the last thirty years. In fact, these two dimensions are at the root of the changes we are witnessing and properly understood, I believe that many companies have an opportunity to craft a course of action that helps restore them not just to a level of survival, but prosperity in a broader sense.
Specific Engagements
I also help clients with the implementation of specific goals, such as recruiting for top level management positions, making acquisitions or – in case of owner retirement issues, divestiture. I have done this work for over 30 years, but the present period is easily the most challenging given the changes that are taking place at so many levels.
