About Thomas Schinkel

In the Fall of 2019, after a fifty-year career as an international business adviser, I was ready to retire and

I looked forward to spending time with grandchildren and traveling, not for business but for pleasure. If

someone in December of 2019 had told me that the years immediately ahead would see:

  • An artificially altered virus escaping from a lab in China traveling around the world with the speed of light, followed by never-before-seen Global lockdowns, forced inoculations with experimental gene therapy products euphemistically called novel vaccines, immediately followed by a massively devastating new proxy war in the heart of Europe killing hundreds of thousands within the time span of two years, only to be outdone by a livestreamed Genocide for world-wide “entertainment” in real time, all of it enveloped in a frame of totalitarian control of information and suppression of dissent, marinated through and through in woke beliefs and values,

I would have said to that person, chances are you’re stark raving mad. And yet, it did! Vividly remembering the period of lockdowns, I had nothing to do but pace the hallways of my home and sitting

in front of my computer, raising questions and searching for answers. I had no education in public health

but I had cultivated a habit of connecting the dots where it comes to understanding complex international systems and organizational structures. It is with that background that I began to dive into

what became known as the Pandemic of 2020. With plenty of time on my hands, and highly motivated, I

came to one startling discovery after another. Above all, I realized that for the past fifteen years or so, I

must have sleepwalking through life, focusing narrowly – like everyone else - on my vocation and not

paying attention to the changes that were taking place in the wider world around me.

If the truth be told, the experience for me has been a metamorphosis. I have accumulated an entirely

new field of expertise and the experience has transformed my beliefs and values grounded in the 1950’s

and 1960’s, and brought them up to date to the present day where I now have a better sense of where

we are in Western civilization, and better able to ask questions about what the future may bring. It

strengthened my alertness to questions of societal agility, crisis-resilience and the contours of what a

credible first world society should look like going forward in the 21 st century.

To make a long story short, I began to write blogs, sharing my essays in the form of emails to a growing

list of some 3500 readers and followers. Late summer of 2021, I decided to assemble my essays in the

form of a book and this became COVID-19: The Education of a Curious American Citizen. ” In this book,

I take a holistic view, grounded in a three-dimensional analytical framework.

Relying on a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, I divided the COVID-19 narrative into fifteen sub-themes, each of them casting doubts – in some cases severe - on the official truth dictated from above. Amazon flat-out refused to list the title on their platform as it“was at variance with official government policy”. Self-publishing was the only option I had left. Two and a half years on, the observations on each and every one of the fifteen sub-themes proved to be uncannily accurate.

Anyone striving to obtain a more complete understanding of the manmade disaster called the

COVID-19 Pandemic, will find this book a helpful read. His second book amplifies public health policy issues and options going forward. It is expected to be ready for publication in the Fall of 2024.
